Netcong Borough Planning Board
The Planning Board consists of volunteer residents appointed by the Mayor & Council who are responsible for preparing the Borough Master Plan in compliance with provisions of the New Jersey Municipal Land Use Law (MLUL) and who are responsible for reviewing zoning ordinances referring to them by the Mayor & Council.
The Planning Board reviews and acts on the following:
- Applications for subdivision approval
- Applications for site plan approval
- Applications for variances
- Revisions to the Borough Zoning Ordinance
The Planning Board consists of nine (9) members and two (2) alternate members:
A. Class I: the Mayor.
B. Class II: one of the officials of the municipality other than a member of the governing body to be appointed by the Mayor.
C. Class III: a member of the governing body to be appointed by it.
D. Class IV: six other citizens of the municipality to be appointed by the Mayor.
The Board is assisted by a professional staff consisting of an Attorney; a Professional Planner; Township Engineer; and a Board Secretary. The Planning Board meets once each month on the fourth Monday at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 23 Maple Avenue, Netcong New Jersey, 07857.

Zoning Officer’s hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 PM to 4 PM
A zoning permit is required for any expansion to a house footprint (deck, porch, room addition) or the addition of structures (pool, fence, shed, patio). The Zoning Permit Application requires you attach a copy of your property survey, detailing the location of the proposed project, including the proposed distances to the property lines. Contact the Zoning Officer, to determine if a Zoning Permit will be required for your project. Once your application has been approved, it will be forwarded to the Building Department for permits.
The permit application must be submitted with a copy the property survey indicating the work that is being considered, as an example a new deck, garage, shed. Submit as much information as possible.
When a business use is changed, new business tenant moves in or a business property is sold a Zoning Permit is required.
