Solid Waste

GARBAGE COLLECTION

Each household is permitted to place garbage containers at curbside after 6:00 the night before the scheduled weekly garbage collection.

To prevent windblown litter please use containers with tight fitting lids.

BULK ITEM COLLECTION

Two bulk items (such as furniture, box spring and mattress, carpets) may be put out on garbage collection day if a sticker ($10.00 per item) has been purchased in advance at Borough Hall.

 Disposal of white goods (appliances etc.) is by appointment with the purchase of a sticker.                

 We do not collect construction debris or hazardous waste! Please contact the Morris County MUA 973-829-8006.

DISPOSAL OF PAINT AND HOUSEHOLD CHEMICALS Oil Based Paint and Household Chemicals can be taken to the Morris County MUA, call 973-829-8006 for location information.

 

Household Hazardous Waste

Residents can dispose of E-waste, oil based paints, batteries, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers any many other house hazardous materials at Household Hazardous Waste Event sponsored by the Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority.  More information can be found on their website at: http://www.mcmua.com/sw_hhw_events.asp

    Morris County residents are invited to attend an upcoming Flood Risk and Insurance Open House hosted in partnership with FEMA. The Open House will introduce residents to updated flood maps and provide information on flood risk, the mapping process, and flood insurance. There will be no formal presentation. Residents may arrive at any time during the event and stay as long as they wish. FEMA representatives will be available to answer questions one-on-one. Attendees are encouraged to bring their flood insurance declaration page, if available. In-Person Open House Dates and Locations: Thursday, January 8, 2026 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM Morris County Public Safety Training Academy 500 West Hanover Avenue Morristown, NJ 07960 Tuesday, January 13, 2026 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM Chester Library 250 West Main Street Chester, NJ 07930 Residents can review the preliminary Flood Insurance Study (FIS) and Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and compare them to current maps using FEMA’s online tools. This event is open to all Morris County residents and is an important opportunity to better understand flood risk and insurance options.
