Netcong Water Conservation Restrictions

As of November 13, New Jersey’s Drought Status has been elevated to “WARNING.” Since June, NJ has seen 6-11 inches less rain than normal. Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:48-2, the Netcong Water System has the power to adopt regulations it deems necessary and proper for the protection of persons and property, and the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare. As such, the Netcong Water department is declaring the following water conservation restrictions:

Until further notice, all outdoor water usage is prohibited. Residents may not use water provided by the Borough’s water system to water lawns, wash cars, power wash, or any other outdoor related use.
The water system is also asking residents to please be mindful of your water consumption for indoor use. The following are some simple and easy ways that you can conserve water:
Turn the faucet off while you brush your teeth
Do not leave the water running while you wash the dishes
Limit showers to roughly five minutes

Road conditions may still be dangerous. The DPW is plowing and maintaining the roads. In doing so, they would like to remind residents that Winter Parking Rules are in effect, and cars should not be parked on the street overnight. Additionally, the DPW is asking residents to please remove objects from the street and curbline to avoid being damaged by the plows (Basketball Hoops, Garbage Cans, etc). The Borough of Netcong would also like to remind its residents of the following line of code: "The owner or tenant of lands abutting or bordering upon the sidewalks of public streets or public places in the Borough shall remove all snow and ice from the sidewalks abutting or bordering their property, edge to edge, within 24 hours after the same shall be formed or fallen thereon. Sidewalks are to be cleared in such a manner so as to leave any access to a crosswalk adjacent to the sidewalk also clear and fully accessible." Stay Warm and Stay Safe.
